The stunning seaside town of Victor Harbour is nestled on the coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula overlooking Encounter Bay. With a row of towering Norfolk Island Pines lining the foreshore, this quiet beach town offers plenty of holiday houses for beach accommodation. Situated only 84km south of Adelaide, with restaurants, seafood cafes, tearooms, museums, historic buildings and galleries to explore, Victor Harbour makes a great day trip or holiday destination.
The Southern Right Whales migrate through the region every year, so the beach town is a great spot for whale watching. Encounter Coast Discovery Centre and South Australia Whale Centre can provide more information on the whale history in the area. Atop the panoramic granite Bluff is a great vantage point.
Victor Harbour overlooks Granite Island connected to the mainland by a causeway. The island is accessible by a unique, double-decker tram drawn by Clydesdale horses. Take a guided walk and discover the cute penguins that live on the island. Penguin Interpretive Centre at Granite Island Nature Park offers tours and more information. The shark aquarium, dolphin and seal cruises and evening penguin tours offer plenty of activities.
Close to neighbouring surf beaches of Goolwa and Middleton, a 23km sealed bikeway is a great way to discover the spectacular coastline between the Bluff and Goolwa beach.
Offering superb weather, Victor Harbour has plenty of holiday accommodation. Beach front apartments, holiday homes, bed and breakfast style properties, caravan park or luxury resort standard is available. Anchorage is a heritage-listed grand villa on the waterfront with spectacular spa rooms overlooking the bay.
